Hotel Review
The Swan, Southwold, Suffolk
The Swan is nestled in the centre of Southwold, a charming seaside town on the Suffolk coast. Although 400 years old, the hotel has a distinctive Georgian façade as the original was destroyed, along with much of the town, in a huge fire in 1659. Oozing character, as you'd expect from a hotel with such a long history, guests enjoy sumptuous interiors blending old and new, the colourful and the understated, as well as great service and a wonderful selection of award-winning Adnams drinks and high-end cuisine. From the black bathroom tiles stamped with uplifting white stars to the vintage filament lightbulbs, it's a delight at every turn.

Style & Character
The modernised interior might suggest The Swan attracts a younger set, but most guests are affluent and middle-aged, or retirees. The owners have had supreme success at merging attractive antique furniture with 1950s pieces and modern touches, which is no mean feat.
Service & Facilities
The strong character of the hotel and sense of history despite the modern touches create a great atmosphere. Dogs can stay in the garden rooms for a small extra fee. Beds, bowls and biscuits are provided.
