WHAT WE LOVE...

Tucked down a side street in central Rome, with its sign almost covered in leaves, you can easily miss this opulent boutique gem. Originally a 16th-century mansion for the well-to-do, it has just 18 rooms, all spacious and supremely comfortable, enlivened by a mish-mash of styles, funky artworks and lots of natural light, and is a great base for discovering key touristic sights and for high-end shopping. You'll want to linger at the classy cocktail bar and the Roman and more general Italian dishes offered by the restaurant won't disappoint. There's a lovely plant-festooned courtyard for al fresco evenings.
