WHAT WE LOVE...
A classic British seaside hotel in the charming village of Seaview on the Isle of Wight, the hotel has expanded and grown over the years and belies its narrow 1901 facade. Originally built by a seafaring family, nautical memorabilia will catch your eye at every turn: the Navy dazzle camouflage used in the Second World War is showcased in the lounge, while aircraft carriers are displayed in the pump bar. The excellent "modern Wight" cuisine has retained a Michelin Bib Gourmand for four years and rooms are luxurious and characterful - some even boasting partial sea views. The beach itself is a hop, skip and a jump away for swimming off the slip or rock pooling at low tide.

The hotel has a fleet of electric bikes that help with the surrounding hills and encourage exploration.
The hotel is in Seaview, a charming coastal village four miles from Ryde, where you'll find plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants.
By car: The hotel is 3 hours 30 mins from London, via the Portsmouth ferry terminal to connect to Fishbourne. From there, it is a 20-minute drive to the hotel, where there is free parking for guests.
By train: Trains run regularly from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour, taking about 1 hour 40 mins. Take the FastCat terminal to Ryde, or the car ferry to Fishbourne, both of which are a short taxi ride from the hotel. thetrainline.com

The Seaview is perfect if you're looking for a compact seaside stay with everything in pebble-skimming distance. We love the atmosphere on the sunny terrace, where guests congregate and passers-by stop to chat.

Room 2 has a large street-facing bay window with a comfortable sofa, partial sea views and a telescope to watch the changing seascape. The family apartment is perfect for some peace with kids, it's at the top of the building and has a bunk room, twin room and double with separate living room.

We love that the excellent standard of food is maintained from breakfast, to bar snacks to dinner in the main restaurant. The cod with gnocchi, tenderstem broccoli, almond and bacon is bursting with flavour.
The Aquitania: 2 AA Rosette and Michelin Bib Gourmand dining, local produce, fresh seafood, modern European dishes. Open for dinner Mon-Sat, 6-9pm. Mains from £16.25.
The Pump Bar & Grill: informal dining, pub classics, fish and chips. Food served daily 12-2.30pm and 5.30-9pm. Mains from £10.95.
