WHAT WE LOVE...

Traditionally where drovers and waggoners would stop for 'bait', the local word for a snack, this gastropub with rooms was completely refurbished in 2015 after being bought by a local couple. It has comfortable, unfussy guest rooms, with three more traditional ones in the main building, the rest being modern lodges on the grounds that each have a hot tub and kitchenette. There's a homely and characterful bar, and the highlight of the property is the excellent cuisine served by the restaurant. There are numerous circular walks on the doorstep, and the historic towns of Ledbury, Leominster, Bewdley and Ludlow are around 30 minutes away.

Food & Drink

We loved finding food of such a good standard in the middle of nowhere. The slow-cooked lamb shoulder with courgettes, greens, mint gel, lamb sauce and rosti potato was a small portion but fantastic.

The Baiting House: modern British cuisine, locally sourced ingredients, seasonal menus. Dishes include wild mushroom risotto, belly of pork and cider battered monkfish. Open daily for drinks, breakfast and dinner, Thu-Sun for lunch.
