An extensive renovation of this Georgian mansion in 2016 resulted in this charming, smart, comfortable B&B that is traditionally decorated and peppered with antique furniture, fixtures and artworks. Located a ten-minute walk from Ross-on-Wye centre, there are several good restaurants and pubs nearby and it makes a splendid base for exploring local walks, towns and villages, including Gloucester, Monmouth, the Brecon Beacons and Malvern. Guest rooms are classically furnished and may feature four-poster beds, freestanding baths and other luxuries. There's a lovely guests' lounge, a three-acre garden, a secure bike store and car park, and great views of the river and the town.
There's so much to see around here, such as Hereford, Gloucester, Monmouth, the Brecon Beacons and Malvern, all around half an hour's drive away. The Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat are much nearer. Canoeing is great on the River Wye.
The hotel is right on the banks of the River Wye - speak to staff about organising activities such as boat trips, fishing and cycling.

Guests tend to be in their 50s to 80s, or younger ones coming to canoe, cycle, horseride or walk in the area. It's popular with racegoers too - and usually completely full the two weeks of the Cheltenham Festival. The guest lounge is an attractive, comfortable space.
The very pleasant residents' lounge - with books, games, an honesty bar and woodburner - is very pleasant to spend time in.

Room 5 is restful with pale green walls and lots of old beams. It has a king-size bed, two comfy pale green armchairs, and a desk with tea and coffee facilities. There's a nice view over the river to Ross and St Mary's church. It has a cream-tiled shower room. We loved the period features of the rooms, whether a roll-top bath or carved wood four-poster bed.
