Hotel Review
Candia Park Village, Crete, Greece
This lovely family resort near both Agios Nikolaos and Elounda and their restaurants and shops is situated on a hillside overlooking Mirabello Bay. Designed as a traditional Cretan village complete with a village square and clock tower, it is very attractive, with suites and apartments housed in two-storey buildings with pretty pastel-tinted lime exteriors. Interiors can be very contemporary and swish. There are two pools, a pine-fringed beach, a kids' club, numerous watersports, a small gym, a spa and tennis, basketball and volleyball. There's a large buffet restaurant, an à la carte taverna, a kafenion (Greek Café) in traditional style, a small shop and two bars. Accommodation includes kitchenettes, so self-catering is an option for those on a budget.
THE DETAILS
Location
There's plenty to do in this sizeable resort and you can feel quite secluded in the one or two quieter spots, and feel no need to leave and explore the island.
You're close to the shops, bars and restaurants of Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. Or take a boat trip to the uninhabited island of Spinalonga.
By plane: flights from London to Heraklion take around 4 hours. It's a 50-minute drive from the airport. Free on-site parking. skyscanner.net
Style & Character
This is very much a family hotel, but couples, solos and groups of friends will feel very at home here too. The two-storey accommodation blocks have lovely pastel-tinted exteriors, whether a deep blue, yellow, muddy ochre or pink. With bright flowering plants around them, they look gorgeous against the vivid, deep blue Cretan sky.
Service & Facilities
The beach, though small, has lots of charm, and the beach bar is a nice spot for a cocktail.
