WHAT WE LOVED...

You'll find several Scandic hotels scattered around Copenhagen, each with its own identity - and in the case of Scandic Kødbyen, it clearly identifies as a carnivore. Opened in 2008 in the nightlife hub of the Meatpacking District, the hotel incorporates a number of interior design nods to its location, with corridor carpets that look like ham netting and decorative chopping boards hanging on butcher's hooks. That aspect might put off some vegans and vegetarians, but meaty design motifs aside, the hotel has plenty going for it. Rooms are smart and contemporary, the service is particularly friendly and there's a buzzy, urban vibe. Many come here to enjoy the local bars and restaurants but it's also quick and easy to get into the centre of town from here.

Style & Character

The hotel's meaty motifs won't appeal to vegans but others will love the contemporary surroundings and easy access to nearby nightlife. The coffee shop area on the ground floor is like a cute indoor park, with realistic potted trees, picnic benches and parasols.

Rooms

The design style is the same in all the rooms, but you get higher ceilings on the fourth floor. The shower was better than most Copenhagen hotels, with good water pressure, big bottles of FACE Stockholm products and a well-sealed door.

Food & Drink

As a snackier alternative to the Mør restaurant, there's also a lobby coffee shop, serving hot and cold drinks, nibbles and paninis. Despite specialising in meat, the restaurant also turned out a nice starter of hot smoked salmon and a tasty chargrilled celeriac dish.

MØR restaurant & bar: Argentinean grill and Scandic cuisine. Open daily for breakfast and drinks. Open Mon-Thu for dinner. Sharing menu from DKK 375.
