WHAT WE LOVE...

A brand new opening for 2021, following a complete transformation, the Bodmin Jail Hotel offers an exciting experiential stay in Cornwall. As a former prison, this fascinating hotel has an incredible history that has been preserved and showcased in luxurious style. Sensitively restored, it has been transformed from the walls of an 18th-century jail into a four-star boutique hotel, and is the showpiece of a £70 million project. Ideally located in the heart of Cornwall, just a short drive will take you to both coasts, as well as Bodmin moor. This unique destination hotel fuses old with new and gives Cornish heritage a luxurious twist. The 70 bedrooms - each with their own unique story to tell - have been created by combining three former cells, retaining many authentic features.

Style & Character

Suited to anyone fascinated by Cornish history - as well as prisons - looking for an immersive stay with added luxury. We were wowed by the prison's former chapel, lovingly restored, with its enormous Victorian Gothic beamed-ceiling, 45 feet overhead.

Service & Facilities

Our tour of the hotel was a fascinating experience, bringing the jail to life with its incredible tales of Cornish inmates. There are 16 dog-friendly rooms available on the ground floor, all with a comfy bed, water bowl and tasty treats to keep your four-legged friend happy and comfortable. The Jail is perfectly positioned within thirty minutes from both coasts, as well as moorland, great for daily walkies.
