Hotel Review
Crazy Bear, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire
The conservative and traditional market town of Beaconsfield is perhaps the last place you'd expect to find a place like Crazy Bear, an opulent hotel that is dripping in bling. Beginning as just ten rooms in 2008, there are now nine buildings including a former coaching inn and the oldest house in Beaconsfield. With lashings of gold and black leather, lots of taxidermy, chandeliers and ornate carvings, saying that the décor is flamboyant and decadent is an understatement. There is an English restaurant and a Thai one, an outrageously plush bar and terrace with an outdoor pool.

Rooms
Room 3 (a suite) is a riot of leather and gold with a beamed ceiling, brick fireplace and heavy velvet curtains. There's also a copper bath. We appreciated the outrageous, exotic décor - from Moroccan lanterns to faux crocodile skin.

The over-the-top décor of the restaurants complements the ornate dishes. The orange blossom and sauvignon-braised fennel with wilted spinach and fennel crisps was delicious.
